Santa Fe Secondary School (SFSS) exists to promote and support the learning of essential academic skills. Our purpose is to educate our students through a variety of classroom experiences so that creativity, cooperation and community all flourish. SFSS teaches all students a standard, core curriculum striving to find a balance between the natural sciences, the social sciences and the humanities. We help students become independent thinkers and resourceful and fearless lifelong learners. Over the years SFSS students have participated in various service projects that demonstrate our commitment to global communication and environmental sustainability. Upon leaving Secondary, our students, both college bound and career bound, are prepared to make choices based on self-awareness and intrinsic motivation.
Santa Fe Secondary School accepts students in grades 7 to 12. We teach most classes in multi-graded classrooms that fosters compassion and cooperation and minimizes competition. Secondary does not exist exclusively for the best and the brightest; we simply encourage our students to begin working to become their personal best and brightest. Our experience and small class size (6-15 students) all but guarantee individual attention and proper college planning. We offer traditional academic subjects — Language Arts, English, History, Math, Laboratory Sciences, Latin and Spanish. Periodic electives include Art, African Drumming, Cooking, Swing Dance, Knitting, Quilting and Beading. Students also attend two or more Physical Education classes each week. These classes include a variety of community based classes like dance, fencing and martial arts. |
